How long has FBC been in business?

Freedom Boat Club has been in business since 1989. We’re the world’s largest and oldest members-only boat club, with over 400 locations worldwide. We launched here in Australia in 2023 and rapidly expanding.

How do I know there will be boats available?

Our reservation system ensures that all members have equal access to the boats, plus members can make guaranteed reservations up to six months in advance.

Are there any usage charges?

No, you will never have usage charges. Your only additional cost is for the fuel that you use.

How many times can I go boating per year?

Boat usage is unlimited at your home location, subject to weather and availability.

How do I make reservations?

Reserving a boat has never been easier. Simply log in to your reservation dashboard and choose your desired date, vessel, and time slot.

What type of boats do you have?

We maintain a variety of boats ranging from open boats to cabin cruisers. Each market chooses its own fleet based on the needs and demands there. Feel free to browse through the individual club location pages on the website to view their fleet.

As a freedom boat club member do I have access to only one boat?

You have access to a fleet of boats. This means you can choose one boat or another depending on your plans for the day: cruising, fishing, towing...

Where do I buy fuel?

We handle the refuelling of the boats so you do not need to worry about finding fuel on water.

Who can I bring with me?

As long as a member is present and in charge of the boat, you can bring friends, family, guests, children, colleagues, or even your favourite pet. Please note National Park Locations have restrictions.

How do you qualify members?

Membership is open to boaters of any skill level, 21 years of age and older. Whether you’ve never boated before, or you’ve boated for years, Freedom Boat Club welcomes you as a member. Unlimited training is offered as part of your membership to ensure you are safe and confident on the water.

Can I go boating at other Freedom Boat Club locations?

Yes, becoming a member of Freedom Boat Club gives you reciprocal access at over 400 locations across Australia, North America and Europe.

Do you offer boat training/safety classes?

Freedom Boat Club is a major proponent of boater education and safety. Each and every one of our Clubs provide free training to our local members regarding the safe use and operation of your ‘home club’ fleet. This generally includes classroom and on-water training activities. Members must complete this training course before they can start reserving boats.

Do you rent your boats?

Never. This is a private fleet. We do not rent any of the boats in our fleet. This allows us to better maintain the condition of our boats and ensures the highest possible level of fleet availability to our members.

What safety equipment is on the boat?

All our boats are fitted with required safety gear for the local conditions. This equipment is checked daily by our dock staff, plus you will be shown where it is on the boat every time you check out for a day on the water.

What does being part of the Freedom Boat Club community mean?

At Freedom Boat Club here in Australia and across the world, we all have one thing in common. We are all passionate about life on the water, and we love to celebrate it! As a member you will be able to meet other members and spend good times together at social events such as after-works, fishing training sessions, wakeboaring sessions, you name it! How often can I book to boat at other Freedom locations?

Up to 4 times per year per location. This is subject to availability

Can I stay overnight on the boat?

The hours of use are Sunrise to Sunset. Seasonality dependent.

What happens if I decide to cancel?

There is no lock in contract but you will need to give us two months’ notice in writing.

Can I join with a friend?

Yes you can. Our family and friends membership allows up to four friends from different addresses to join on the one membership.

What happens if I have an accident that wasn't my fault, such as running over a submerged object?

All our vessels are covered with full insurance when operated by the licensed member, as the member you are liable for the excess when at fault.

How much does it cost?

You pay a one-time joining fee and monthly fee. Contact your local club for more information on pricing and offers.
